
ESM Foundation is the leading Swiss network on a responsible industrial use of metals of limited availability, which are essential for the transformation to a sustainable society. The Foundation initiates, supports and coordinates research and education projects, organises events and promotes the professional and social discourse on critical metals. ESM represents a high standard of scientific quality as well as political and financial independence, enabled by the Foundation’s capital that has been managed sustainably since 1951. The Foundation works in close collaboration with science and industry and abroad and is engaged in a variety of public-sector projects.
ESM is member of the EIT RawMaterials, the European Raw Material Alliance ERMA, and the Federation of European Material Societies FEMS. The Foundation coordinates, inter alia, the European projects SusCritMat on the sustainable management of critical raw materials (www.suscritmat.eu), and IRTC, an international Round Table on materials criticality bringing together global experts in the field (www.irtc.info).
